- 295 British pounds£295
- On Zoom
This summer Lucy and Chris are offering a bespoke writers retreat on Zoom for writers who already understand the nuts-and-bolts of putting a TV comedy script together and are ready to take their writing to the next level. What you’ll get out of it: - a greater understanding of how the TV industry works and how shows get commissioned. - an understanding of the strengths and possible issues of the kinds of ideas you are developing. - a deep dive into your work with Chris to explore how to develop your writing. - a stronger understanding of how to get your work more widely seen and what to do next. How it works: Ahead of the course you will submit to Lucy and Chris: - A brief biog, your experience and what you would like to get out of the course - Writing examples. We are suggesting 3 x excerpts of up to 10 pages each from three different scripts. Or 15 pages from two different scripts. - Short pitches for three different TV comedy shows. One side of A4 for each pitch. (These can be for the shows you have submitted scripts for, but they could be different ideas). PART 1 - 7pm-9pm UK time With Lucy & Chris You will enhance your industry knowledge and learn how things actually get commissioned. In this context, Lucy will also offer comments on your three pitches, highlighting your strengths and also any issues with them from the commissioner’s perspective. PART 2: 45 mins one-to-one with Chris on your submitted writing (TIME TO BE AGREED WITH YOU - DAYTIME & EVENING SLOTS AVAILABLE) Chris will look closely at your writing and give feedback and pointers on how to develop it. Following this, you then get specific written notes to develop your work. You will then submit 10 pages of script from one selected project to Lucy and Chris ahead of the third session. PART 3 - 7pm-9pm UK time With Lucy & Chris Lucy will give you feedback on your writing from the producer/commissioner perspective and suggestions for how to take your work forward. And they will discuss ways to get your work seen as a writer or writer/performer and pitching techniques. Insider tips for making contact with producers and other industry people, we will also explore live shows, tasters, short films, script competitions, readings. So this is going beyond simply tips on pitching to producers and looking at the bigger picture of getting seen and known. 4 WRITERS ONLY PER GROUP The one-to-one session 2 time below is indicative only. Actual timing to be agreed with you.
