Service Description

If you’re writing comedy sketches, sitcom or comedy drama scripts, or working on any other kind of comedy script, here's a chance to: - hang out with a friendly bunch of comedy writers - get expert input into your writing - learn new writing technqiues and finesse old favourites - improve your writing, end up with a lot of new sketches and scenes and develop stories too - and set yourself a goal of what you want to achieve across the five weeks. This course is for you if: * You are working on sketch, sitcom or comedy shorts * Or you just want to develop your writing skills and gain inspiration You might have a specific project you are working on or you can simply come along for inspiration. * If you've done a course with me before you're welcome to join this as a refresher - I'll also vary the clips and references so it won't be a repeat of what you've done with me before. Each week we go through a key aspect of comedy writing - including a unique (or at least highly unusual!) session looking closely at the key art of rewriting. These are our weekly topics: WEEK 1: Creating and Developing Characters WEEK 2: Writing Dialogue WEEK 3: Writing Scenes and Sketches WEEK 4: Re-writing Scenes and Sketches WEEK 5: Developing Story & Structuring Narrative Each week I’ll set a homework for you to write which you’ll share ahead of the next session. I’ll review all of these scripts ahead of the following session, providing notes and comments – and each week a number will be selected to read aloud in the session and go deeper into with analysis and feedback. It can be so helpful to hear your work read aloud - you get a different perspective on it and can see issues and opportunities with it that you can't necessarily spot on the page.
