I am a comedy coach, live comedy director and author of three books, “The Complete Comedy Script Toolkit”, "Creating Comedy Narratives for Stage and Screen" and "A Director's Guide to the Art of Stand-up".

I teach stand-up and comedy scriptwriting at the British Library, BBC Writers, Channel 4 and Bath Spa University, as well as online courses with writers and performers from all over the world. I also coach and mentor writers with BBC Comedy Commissioner and producer Lucy Lumsden.

Students I have taught have had a BBC sitcom (Daddy Issues) a Channel 5 sitcom (Borderline) and a BAFTA winning comedy short (Quiet Life), sell out stand-up shows at the Edinburgh Fringe (I Can Make You Italian in 55 Minutes), at Soho Theatre (Stand Up with Janine Harouni) and comedy plays at Soho Theatre (You Only Live Twice – which I also directed).

In the corporate world, I have taught stand-up skills at Allen & Overy, ITV, Channel 4, Google, Warner Brothers, Bank Paribas, UBS, MUFG, Digitas, The Mill, George P. Johnson, McCann, 180 Kingsday (Amsterdam), 101, Lida, MRM Meteorite and BBH. And I have taught comedy writing to creatives at The & Partnership, House 337 and BBC Creative.

I have also helped speakers punch up, structure and deliver full-length talks, including popular mathematics author Matt Parker’s ‘Humble Pi’ and ‘Get Triggy With it” shows, that tied in with the best-selling book of the same name, and Caroline Goyder’s TEDx talk (12 million views and counting).
