Script Spark: Zoom TV Comedy Scriptwriting Support Group

Updated: 21 hours ago

If you’re writing a TV comedy script and would benefit from deadlines, inspiration, expert feedback and camaraderie, this is the group for you! Script Spark is set up to provide you with feedback, coaching and support to get your script written and to enhance your writing.

I tried to get AI to generate a normal image for this but got bored and instead asked it to "create an image of a printer where the printed pages of a TV comedy script are flying out of the window into the mouth of a giant smiling clown." (I see it doesn't know what a TV script looks like, but does know how a giant sky clown looks.)

5 places only! Weekly sessions across 5 weeks on Zoom.

Live on Zoom (videos of sessions shared after the class plus detailed notes)

Fridays 13th, 20th, 27th June

11th, 18th July 2025 (no session 4th July)

9.30am-11.30am UK time

10.30am-12.30pm European time

6.30pm-8.30pm Sydney, Australia time

1.30pm-3.30pm Delhi time, India

£135 / £125 for returning writers (any course or session with me qualifies!)

On this course you will:

  • set yourself goals and deadlines to get your script done

  • hang out with a friendly bunch of comedy writers

  • get expert input into your writing

  • make your writing stronger and funnier

On the course you get:

Accountability and Momentum: Setting your writing objectives each week fosters a sense of accountability and ensures consistent forward movement on your script. Sharing your progress and your struggles with fellow writers creates a supportive group that encourages you to stay on track.

 • Inspiring Feedback: Gain invaluable insights into your comedic writing through live readings of your scenes and excerpts. The creative and thoughtful feedback provided by your peers and myself, offers diverse perspectives to refine your comedic writing, dialogue, and characterisations.

Each session we go over the script excerpts you have submitted that week. They are read aloud in the session. It can be so helpful to hear your work read aloud – or to read it aloud with others. You get a different perspective on it and can see issues and opportunities with it that you can't necessarily spot on the page.

Once the scene is read we go into analysis and discussion where you get immediate helpful and inspiring feedback.

  • We will look closely at your scenes to look at where and how they can be enhanced with key edits and rewrites, drawing out principles you can apply to future scenes too.

 • Narrative Clarity: Delve into the foundational elements of your script, exploring narrative structure, plot development, character arcs, and thematic resonance. Engaging in discussions about the overall vision for your project helps to ensure that individual scenes contribute effectively to the larger comedic narrative you are creating. This collaborative exploration can illuminate potential plot holes, strengthen comedic throughlines, and solidify the unique comic voice of your script.

 • Funniness!: Develop and sharpen the comedy of your script.

  • Plus you can request topics for coaching and discussion:

Identify specific areas of your comedic writing where you seek improvement, such as crafting effective comic lines, writing comedic dialogue, developing memorable characters, or mastering the intricacies of a comedy narrative - and I'll do some coaching on the subject!

 • Navigating the Next Stage: Script Spark extends beyond the writing process itself, offering guidance and support as you consider the next steps for your completed or near-completed scripts, whether it's competitions, pitching to producers, or embarking on the journey of self-production.

Whatever your goals, the collective wisdom and shared experiences of the group alongside my insights and industry experience will provide invaluable direction and encouragement.

Sounds good, right? Any Qs let me know.
